Opening to the Heart of Presence is available to those who simply Seek.

Some of my favorite charities that help animals, including  elephants and the dancing bears are described in my travel blog.

Below are a few charities I connected with while in Varanasi, India:

          Krishnamurti Foundation- http://www.j-krishnamurti.org

"That Reality is not to be bought, to be sold, to be repeated; it cannot be caught in books. It has to be found from moment to moment, in the smile, in the tear, under the dead leaf, in the vagrant thoughts, in the fullness of love."                J. Krishnamurti

The Krishnamurti Study Centre and Retreat, offers facilities for the study of Krishnamurti's teachings. It offers accommodation for visitors who wish to take a retreat for self-enquiry. (I enjoyed my solo retreat there very much and even took a walk from Varanasi to Sarnath, where Buddha gave his first Dharma Talk.)

The Rajghat Rural Centre offers free education, health care and vocational training to the disadvantaged living in the neighbouring villages.

The Sisters of Charity  In searching the internet, there are many sites that use the key words of "Sisters of Charity" so I cannot pass on a web address I am certain of, however if you ever have the chance to visit one of the Sisters' of Charity hospitals and places of service, don't miss the opportunity. I visited the Sisters of Charity for the Destitute and Dying in Varanasi, India, and was deeply moved by the compassion and love that was ever-present. Not only did the nuns glow with joy, so did the patients that live there. It was located by the oldest Burning Ghat. Ask a local, they will likely be able to point you in the right direction.

          Both are worth a visit!
